Becoming a Volunteer

At the Betty Jean Kerr People's Health Centers, Inc., volunteers are a very important and valuable asset to our health center. Our staff and patients need you. Consider joining the people who have volunteered their time and talents at People’s Health Centers. Your willingness to give will have a positive impact on our patients and their recovery. People’s Health Center employees will come to rely on your dedication and giving spirit.

Are you People’s volunteer material?

To volunteer, you must be at least 18 years of age; have identification including a social security number; complete a volunteer application; provide two personal references; pass a criminal background check and show documentation of the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine and recent TB test results (from within the past 30 days)

What volunteering isn't?

Volunteering is not an internship or a shadow program. It's also not an opportunity to get clinical experience. As a volunteer, you are not allowed to participate in direct patient care. Finally, we do not accept volunteers who are court ordered to perform community service.

Volunteers need the following qualities: Energetic, self-starter, assertive, creative, problem-solver, and a commitment to helping the BJK People's Health Centers. Scheduling and placement of volunteers is based on the needs of the department as determined by management.
