Funding for the Uninsured

The Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers is committed to providing comprehensive primary health care to impoverished, uninsured populations in the St. Louis metropolitan area. This is a critically important mission when you consider that:

Uninsured women who develop breast cancer are twice as likely to die than women with insurance. Uninsured men with colon cancer are 50 percent more likely to be diagnosed at a late state. Uninsured children are 70 percent more likely not to receive medical care for common conditions such as ear infections.

Those are just a few of the horrifying facts of life for the uninsured.

Patients without insurance may qualify for a partial or even complete discount for medical services. To qualify for our sliding fee adjustment, patients should bring the following to their first Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers appointment:

Current proof of income (one of the following)

* 2 recent check stubs
* Last year’s tax return
* A letter from the Division of Employment (unemployment statement)
* Current W-2 forms

Picture identification
Utility bill for address verification
$32.00*

*The fee increases to $75.00 if you do not bring proof of income

After the visit, patients should expect to receive a bill for the remaining balance (if applicable).
